Lecturer in Global Citizenship and Sustainable Development Jeju National University
I’m an experienced English teacher with a strong academic and professional background. My credentials include a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA), an Advanced Diploma in Language and Literacy, and an MSc in Education. In non-educational fields, also hold a PhD in Geography and an MA in Human Rights. This extensive academic experience ensures that my lessons, while engaging and laidback, are academically rigourous and informed by the latest pedagogies.
I also differentiate my lessons by shaping them around many of the pressing issues of the day. In addition to teaching, I spent three years working as a newspaper editor, developing a deep appreciation for clear, engaging language. I have also worked for NGOs in international development, which gave me valuable insight into professional, policy-focused, and cross-cultural communication. I also work with UNESCO on sustainable development issues, which keeps my teaching closely connected to current global debates and professional practice.
In education, I taught for six years at a teachers’ college, working with future educators on English language skills and pedagogical methods. In my current role, I teach undergraduates global citizenship, sustainable development, and intercultural understanding, all the while embedding these lessons in the local society and culture. My teaching style is approachable, student-centred, and supportive, while still maintaining high academic standards. I enjoy helping learners use English confidently to discuss real-world topics, develop their own voice, and communicate ideas that matter to them in academic and professional settings.
